    WHAT IS THE MEDIA SCHOOL

    Student-run, non-profit, volunteer organisation based at the University of Cape Town.

    Operates in four disadvantaged high schools in Philippi, one of Cape Town’s most populous townships.

    Teaches Journalism, English language and ‘Life Skills’

    Works with +- 150 learners aged 14-19
     

    WHAT IS OUR MISSION

    To utilize the tremendous human potential extant in South African society through a comprehensive skills-sharing program

    To help underprivileged students develop both their analytical and creative abilities

    To improve students’ written and verbal English language skills (vital for both employment and further study in South Africa)

    To empower students with a sense of self-worth and the necessary skills to overcome adversity

    To achieve these goals through our programs, partnerships and extra-curricula activities

    We look for volunteers from the University of Cape Town every February and July. If you are interested, contact us!
